Biography
David is an electronic musician born in Switzerland and living in Lausanne. He developed an interest in drums and electronic music as early as age 12 thanks to his uncle, a Depeche Mode and Rolling Stones fan. He then started to play in many rock bands.
In 1998 he went to study the groovebox MC-505 from ROLAND Machine Manufacturer. In 1999, he was nominated for playing at the Swiss final of the EUROPEAN MASTERS OF GROOVE with his techno track “Dark Entrance”.
He then started making live Techno and Trip-hop performances and playing machines in 2001 and 2003. He played with bands such as Gust, Chic-Bull and Lunida in many live clubs in Switzerland. Meanwhile he continued producing tracks again and again.
In 2006 he signed 2 vinyl EPs with his solo project DAVIDOVITCH for the well respected techno label KOMPAKT, on the Speicher series. Vol. 36 with “Cellophane” & Vol. 39 with “Insider” were released. He produced different techno EPs for other respected labels like RESOPAL in 2011, EINTAKT, VANINA HAHIN in 2012 and TRAUM SCHALLPLATTEN in 2015.
ALSO AS A LIVE-ACT…
After having several experiences to play live with machines and musicians in great clubs or festivals like MONTREUX JAZZ with Lunida in 2010, DAVIDOVITCH now plays with a minimal setup that contains a computer, a synth and a percussion tool. Less is more.
He can give an intensity to the sound, feel the beat stronger and give a unique & deep atmosphere through his live-acts. With this setup, he has performed with his artistic touch in different electronic clubs between Geneva, Lausanne, Lyon and Paris.
