Kohlenstoff is a Montreal-based artists collective and a label. It featuring composers who explored the uncharted territories of unusual music. To date the label has already issued 20 albums by a dozen composers, principally living in Montreal, but also in various other countries – England, Poland, Argentina, Israel and the United States. Undoubting that the digital format is currently the most likely one to increase the visibility of its artists, Kohlenstoff Records mainly distributes its albums in this medium. // français Kohlenstoff est un collectif et une maison de disques regroupant des artistes sonores qui oeuvrent à explorer de nouveaux territoires dans le monde des musiques inhabituelles. Convaincus que le format numérique est à l’heure actuelle le plus à même d’accroître la visibilité des artistes, Kohlenstoff Records diffuse principalement ses albums en format numérique. À ce jour l’étiquette compte plus d’une vingtaine albums et regroupe une douzaine de compositrices et compositeurs de Montréal surtout, mais aussi de divers autres pays – Angleterre, Pologne, Argentine, Israël et États-Unis.
